Otter Valley Federation

Believing and Achieving Together to be The Best We Can Be

Colin Butler

Staff Governor & Executive Head

colin-butlerI started as Headteacher at Feniton C of E Primary school in September 2009 before becoming the Executive Headteacher of the Otter Valley Federation in September 2013. After completing a degree at Plymouth I worked for 8 years teaching and managing at Outdoor education centres around the country. I started my teaching career in a large, successful, 300 pupil primary school in South Devon. My last position was as Headteacher of a small C of E primary school in the South Hams, where I had to balance the roles of class teacher and Headteacher, a rewarding and demanding post. As part of our Federations link with the Norman Palmer School in the Solomon Islands I have had the rewarding experience of visiting the area twice to support the links. I am married to a trained primary school teacher and we have two boys, both at university. I am involved in the scout movement and as a family we make full use of the outdoor world, especially gardening, walking, sailing, skiing and white water canoeing.

  • Ethos

The Federation shares a strong ethos:

We aim to reflect God's love, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

    John 10:10
